Homophones

homophones

Homophones are words which sound the same but have a different meaning and spelling. e.g. new and knew.  The list of words below are just a few homophones we have in the English language, there are LOTS more.

accept, except          vein, vain          allowed, aloud          berry, bury          way, weigh          reigns, reins          plain, plane   weather, whether          piece, peace          medal, meddle

Over the next 2 weeks play the game which (a homophone!) is linked below, search for others and play those too (a homophone!), write your chosen homophones in sentences, make your own posters and games with these homophones and your own examples.  Bring the work you have done into school because I would love to see our spelling wall bursting at the seams (another homophone!).
